there is kind of a depressing article in the T-Picayune today about Dr. Ed's failed attempt at using blight bonds to finance development here. the thing is, is this was one of his cornerstone financing options. now it is falling through. his under-staffed office is also in a hiring freeze right now because there isn't enough money and he goes on to say in so many words that he 'didn't know there was a financial problem'. okay, the feeling i have is like when as you grow up that your parents are people too and they can make mistakes. but where did he think he was, and how, could he not understand or not know that the city is in major financial crisis??
i want to believe in him and his plan isn't working very well. in a meeting with him the other day, we actually said 'i'm a developer on the side so money isn't a problem for me'. why does he say this crap? he kind of reminds me of Paris Hilton when he talks like that.

- i just moved to the Big Queasy. Started a blog to vent my thoughts, not sure if anyone is going to read it, I am just using to record my experience here, kind of like a journal and having an imaginary audience helps me articulate things and motivates me to be witty, brilliant and insightful. I will post things in no particular order of importance, in no chronological order, and some of what I post will have nothing to do with New Orleans, but just with life in general. Sometimes it is really exhausting when thinking about your environment is your job, and you just want to do something else, like read about Britney Spears. I am really not interested in being politically correct or overly sensitive in this space, even though I will probably touch on some delicate issues here relating to the recovery of the city, like race, socio-economics, federal policy, and how I think Louisiana oysters are sub-par. If you get offended or bored, or think that I have got it all wrong, then go do something else. :)
